The ribbon most often ordered for each Godex model, with the core and winding the printer takes. Where the maker's documents do not state the winding, the table says so: send us your model and we confirm it. For labels narrower than the printer, order a ribbon slightly wider than the label.

Godex ribbon by series: EZ industrials, G500 and RT desktops
Godex ribbon follows three groups. Godex lists the EZ2250i and EZ2350i as industrial printers: a 1 inch core, rolls up to 450m, ribbon 30mm to 110mm wide and a maximum roll diameter of 76mm. The G500, G530 and the RT700i family are desktop printers on a 1 inch core with rolls up to 300m, the same 30mm to 110mm width and a maximum roll diameter of 68mm. The small RT200i and RT230i are 2-inch printers and take a different roll altogether: ribbon 56mm to 59mm wide, 110m on a ½ inch core, 38mm in diameter.
Inside or outside wound on a Godex: what Godex states
The EZ2250i and EZ2350i take both. Godex describes automatic self-adjustment for ribbon coated inside or outside, and the manual shows a loading route for each, so order whichever winding your stock uses.
For the G500, G530, RT700i family and RT200i, Godex's brochures, specification lists and manuals do not state which side of the ribbon is inked, so we do not guess. Look at the roll that is in the printer now, or send us the model, and we confirm the winding before dispatch. Godex's G500 manual warns against inside wound label stock, but that warning is about the labels, not the ribbon.
Two ribbon tables in Godex's G500 documents
If you read the current G500 Series user manual, the ribbon table in it is for the G525 and G535: 110m rolls on a ½ inch core, 40mm in diameter. The G500 and G530 brochure lists something different, 300m on a 1 inch core with a roll diameter up to 68mm. Check which printer a table describes before ordering. If your printer is a G500 or G530, the 1 inch core and 300m roll is the one to look for, and a ½ inch roll is a different size.
Choosing a grade on a Godex printer
Match the grade to the label, not to the printer. Dry paper labels need only wax: CW-11 for uncoated and matte paper, CW-12 for semi-gloss and coated paper. When the label is coated paper that gets handled or wiped, or a light synthetic, CW-20 is the general wax-resin, and CW-22 is the step up for coated paper, polyester and polypropylene. For polyester, polypropylene, polyimide and film that must resist chemicals or abrasion, CW-28 is the resin.
A ribbon at least as wide as the label keeps the whole printhead covered. Wax-resin and resin need more printhead heat than wax, so raise darkness in small steps and stop at the lowest setting that gives a barcode that scans.
Ordering ribbon for a Godex printer
Find your model in the table above and compare it with the roll in your printer. Then send the printer model, label width, core size, roll length and number of rolls, plus the old roll or a photo of it if Godex does not state the winding for your model. Standard sizes have no minimum order, and a free sample lets you test on your own Godex. Widths run from 25mm to 160mm and lengths from 50m to 600m, on ½ inch or 1 inch cores, notched if needed, inside or outside wound. MSDS is available on request.

Ribbon size varies by Godex model: the RT200i takes 56–59mm on a ½ inch core, and the RT700 and G500 take up to 110mm on a 1 inch core. Winding varies by model — the EZ2250i accepts both; for desktop models, check your current roll or send us your model number.

The label decides, not the printer. Wax for dry paper labels (CW-11 or CW-12). Wax-resin for coated paper that is handled, or light synthetics (CW-20 or CW-22). Resin for polyester and polypropylene labels that meet chemicals or abrasion (CW-28).
